Overview
Job Title: Registered Manager
Reports to: Groups Home Manager
Job Overview: You will provide leadership, ensuring that the promotion and provision of care is delivered to our residents is at the highest standard, maximising the individual's potential and promoting recovery and independence. The role is responsible for ensuring that the home is fully compliant and promotes a caring and effective workplace, and one where the Cascade ethos is constantly delivered to all.
Location: Norwich. You may be required to travel to other locations within Cascade with appropriate notice.
Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week and any other additional hours to fulfil your job role.
Salary: £40,800 plus performance and inspection bonuses
Main function of the job:
To ensure a high quality service is delivered and maintained effectively in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
The work in accordance with Cascades own care standards and ethos, applying them to your own working practice and supporting colleagues to apply them to their own practice.
To support our support workers to have the skills, knowledge and ability to undertake their roles.
Ensuring that staff understand and are fully aware of the daily routines of the home.
Work within organisational policy and procedure established in the home.
Ensure that all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities in relation to the Children’s Home Regulations (England) 2015, the CQC Fundamental Standards (2014) and the Health and Social Care Act (2008).
Ensure that all staff are made aware of the Therapeutic community strategies to work with children, young people and vulnerable adults in our care.
Ensure that resident’s reviews and meetings are delivered within the required time scales.
Ensure both local authority and internal care and placement plans are in place and that staff fully understand their role.
Chair, or participate in meetings and reviews, as and when required.
Ensure that the standards expected in the delivery of care are upheld and the standing of the organisation is maintained.
Take the lead in ensuring an open culture is created, one in which residents can complain and that they are listened to.
Ensure that all staff work within a non-discriminatory environment.
Undertake and participate in any training programmes which are relevant to the employment of staff working in residents services, paying particular regard to residential care.
Ensure staff fully understand the role of a key worker and make sure the systems are in place for the delivery of this practice.
Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff.
Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practice, home procedures, Company policies and the appropriate statutory regulations.
Ensure staff are aware of and deliver the support required to ensure the life chance opportunities of the young people for their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical, and cultural needs are met.
Produce, coordinate and edit reports.
To contribute to the on-call system.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Be involved in the staff safer recruitment process.
Main Duties (not in any order of priority)
Ensuring excellent standards of person centred, holistic care are delivered by all staff
Manage the home in accordance with standards agreed with the Group, legislative requirements, relevant regulations and in line with accepted best practice and within financial plans agreed.
Participate in the formulation and evaluation of residents care plans, support plans and risk assessments
Encourage residents to participate in; educational sessions, physical activities, group activities and activities of daily living.
Documenting and evidencing care by completing daily notes and be involved in discussing how best to support someone's need in the least restrictive way.
Work collaboratively with group roles to deliver health and well-being and educational programmes within the home, including use of ASDAN and Outcome Star
Work in cooperation with other team members and wider multidisciplinary team to maximise opportunity for each residents therapeutic care
Participate in referral process and development of assessment and transition planning
Ensure open and clear communication at all times with family members and carers, providing updates as required
Support in recruitment and induction of new staff
Active involvement in the implementation and design of Cascades quality assurance programme
Report any incidents of abuse, mistreatment or non compliance within the home and implement any outcomes from investigations
Implement policy on ordering, administration, storage and destruction of medication. Audit checks on MAR sheets and evidence spot checks
Take joint responsibility for the promotion and management of employees training. Including; care certificate, NVQ’s, e-learning, ensuring that all policies and procedures are read and understood and role specific training
Work with the Deputy Manager to produce effective and efficient rota planning
Maintain good working relationships with staff and promote effective resolution of team conflicts
Ensuring regular supervision sessions and appraisals are completed
Maintain own care and management skills and undertake additional training as required
Responsibility for reception and initial investigation of complaints and recording their progress
Ensure that residents rights are protected
Encourage innovative methods for the delivery of care and health promotion
Positively promote Cascade through personal conduct both within and outside working hours
Provide on-call support as part of rota.
Experience
Previous experience of working in a similar environment.
Knowledge of leading a team and working within a multidisciplinary team.
Previous experience of working as a service manager.
Experience of working with Service Users who have additional support needs.
Managing budgets.
Working in a supervisory capacity.
Skills required
PROFICIENT WRITTEN SKILLS
Ensure accurate and legible records are kept.
Ensure compliance with statutory and Cascade (Stiles/Wilson House) Limited.
Limited requirements on all reportable areas within the service provision.
BUDGETARY SKILLS
Measure weekly expenditure to ensure budget is maintained.
Ensure all equipment is purchased within budgetary constraints.
Understand how to read and produce the providers budget plans.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Regularly seek feedback from all stakeholders and plan changes according to feedback.
Plan and attend regular meetings with all stakeholder to keep abreast of views and expectations.
Knowledge of various communicative methods to reach all stakeholders.
Qualifications required
NVQ level 3 in a young person’s setting or equivalent (essential) if working in an Ofstedhome.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Adult Social Care (Not essential but must be willing to undertake).
