Working Hours: Full time, Term time
Salary: Competitive salary range of £28000 - £35000 dependent on qualifications and/or experience

The School:
Felix House is a brand new build Residential School for 6 pupils and further placements for 9 day pupils to attend from KS2 to KS5. The education provided within Felix House will match those targets of the National Curriculum with underpinned targeted interventions to ensure all pupils Unique Starting Points and gaps within learning are addressed. We believe everyone has the right to an inclusive education in line with the Equality Act 2010.
Cascade currently have 5 residential homes within the Norwich and Withernsea area providing Adult Education to those who reside, 1 childrens home with onsite Education, 1 school specialising in Autism & Severe Learning Difficulties and a Forest on the outskirts of Norwich available for education. (with further homes up and coming in the next year).
Cascade believe in Lifelong 24 hour Learning, with this in mind our cohort of pupils will begin education at KS2, progressing through KS3 & KS4 to then our Cascade College.
As a Teacher you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to promote positive outcomes for our pupils personal development as well as academic achievements. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of an ambitious curriculum with exploration of innovative teaching and learning strategies.

The Role:
Felix House School is an Independent, DfE-registered school, providing specialist education for up to 6 residential pupils and 9 day pupils. The school is situated within Felix House Residential Children’s home, Hull.
The school specialises in educating its pupils through bespoke individualised learning programmes, delivered using high-quality teaching and pastoral care. Pupils within Felix House present with an Educational Health Care Plan and need additional support surrounding Social Emotional Mental Health.
The curriculum incorporates a strong emphasis on social, moral, spiritual and cultural dimensions, as well as the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science in order to support pupils transitioning into adulthood.
Wherever possible we extend learning beyond the confines of the school and out in the community; collaboratively working with the children’s home, creating an environment of 24/7 learning.
Behaviour management strategies are applied consistently and sensitively, ensuring that the pupils are clear about boundaries and expectations. Felix House School values are paramount to the whole school ethos: to care, achieve, be safe, consistent, active, diverse & to enjoy.

Roles and Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate a wide range of learning opportunities.
Support pupils to develop their skills of independence, resilience and confidence
Plan and teach well structured lessons, following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work, embedding outcomes agreed in EHC plans
To teach a broad and balanced curriculum in line with the National Curriculum to learners, some of whom have a wide range of special educational needs, especially social, emotional and mental health issues.
Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils - Providing support to pupils who have a range of difficulties taking into account advice and programmes provided by other professionals;
To work cooperatively with other staff in the general running of Felix House School
To take responsibility for pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required
Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment including contributing to the writing and reviewing of SEN support plans
To attend INSET days, training sessions and staff meetings as required.
To promote the safeguarding of children.
To participate in performance management, and undertake training and professional development as appropriate.
To undertake other duties appropriate to the post that may reasonably be required by the senior leadership team .
Ensuring the maintenance of good behaviour in line with school procedures and policy at all times during the school day.
Promoting the ethos of the school ensuring that all are treated with justice, equality and respect.
Demonstrating consistent excellent practice .
