To create and maintain a website, in line with Ofsted guidance, that is a source of useful information for pupils, parents and carers and professionals alike. This policy is in two sections. Section One outlines technical and content based information. Section Two refers to visitors of the website and the website disclaimer.
Section One
Purpose of the website
Cascade recognises the importance of having a website, not only to showcase resident’s and pupil’s success and achievement, but also to be a source of information for professionals, parents and carers. The main purpose of the website is to:
• Provide information to prospective parents and professionals
• To provide information to the wider community
• To contribute to and celebrate success and community spirit
Website Structure
The school website can be found at www.cascade-care.com. The site is hosted by square space and updated by Pace Communications. There is only one way to access the website and that is though the publicly available link (www.cascade-care.com). Content for the website is written by the website coordinator Simone Garland and approved by one person from the Advisory Board, Sonnie Rozenbroek, before being updated on the website. The website coordinator Simone Garland is in charge of ensuring content is appropriate, relevant and meets statutory duties for a school website.
Safeguarding
The safety of the residents and pupils, and any person who may appear or be referred to on the website is of paramount importance. Cascade will take measures to ensure no resident or pupil can be contacted as a direct result of being published on the website. Pictures and content
Permission will be obtained from a parent or legal guardian before any resident’s or pupil’s image is used.
Only first names of residents and students will be used. Personal information about residents, pupils or staff will not be shared on the website. Any links to external websites will be thoroughly checked being used on any material on the website. External links will be checked for the suitability of their content for the intended audience. All written content will be checked by the website coordinator Simone Garland to ensure it is suitable for the intended audience. Content will be checked to ensure that as far as possible, no copyright or intellectual property rights are infringed.
Privacy
All adults connected to Cascade (staff, visitors, family) have the right to refuse permission to have their image published on the website. Parents and legal guardians have the right to refuse permission of their child's progress, image or video to be published on the website.
Monitoring
Content will be approved by one or more members of the advisory board. The website coordinator Simone Garland will check material before it is uploaded or published to ensure it is suitable for its intended audience and within copyright laws (as far as possible). Any persons named on a web page can ask for their details to be removed. New pages will be tested for errors. Webpages will be regularly reviewed for their accuracy, relevance and suitability and updated as required. This review will be at least termly. It will be the responsibility of the website coordinator Simone Garland to carry this out.
Maintenance and editing
The general maintenance and upkeep of the website is outsourced to Pace Communications Any new content or revised content will first be approved by at least one member of the advisory board before Pace Communications carries out any changes or updates. The website coordinator will ensure that this happens.
Section Two: Privacy for website users. What information do we collect?
We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal information:
• Information about your visit and use of the website
• Information about any transactions carried out between you and us on or in relation to this website
Information about website visits
We may collect information about your visit to the website such as your IP address, geographical location, browser type, referral source, length of visit and number of page views. We may use this information to improve the websites usability and for marketing purposes. We use cookies on the website. A cookie is a text file sent by a web server to and stored by a web browser. This enables the server to keep a track of your visits and activity on the website. We may use cookies to identify users patterns to improve the website and your experience using the website. We may also use that information to recognise your computer when you visit the website, and to personalise the website for you. Most browsers allow you to accept or refuse cookies however refusing cookies might have an impact on the usability of the website.
How we use your personal data
Personal data submitted to the website will be used for the purposes specified in this policy or unless otherwise stated on the website. In addition to the uses identified elsewhere in this privacy policy we may your personal information to:

• Provide other organisations with statistical information about our users. This information will not be used to identify any user
